• Remove the skin from the end of your paintstik if

you have not already done so.

• You may prefer to make rubbings using the side of a

mini paintstik or a short piece from a full size stick.

If so, use a small paring knife to slice the skin from

the side of the stick.

• Place the sticky mat on your work surface and set

your rubbing plate on the sticky mat.

• Place your fabric, right side up, over the rubbing

plate.

• Hold the fabric with the palm of one hand.

• Apply paintstik color directly to the fabric, working

away from the hand holding the fabric.

• Do not rub back and forth.

• Move the fabric or rubbing plate as necessary and

fill the fabric with rubbings.

• Secure at least one side of your fabric (right side up)

to the work surface with masking tape or clamps.

• Slide rubbing plate under the fabric.

• Hold the other end of the fabric with one hand.

• Apply paintstik color directly to the fabric, working

away from the hand holding the fabric.

• Do not rub back and forth.

• Move the rubbing plate as necessary and fill the

fabric with rubbings.
